CoolTalks: Year 2007
Hi everyone!
Praise the Lord for the New Year He has opened up for all of us. The start of the new year is always a reflection of God's faithfulness over the years. It's the opportunity to be dazzled upon His favour for my life. Let me share you a glimpse of what happened for the year 2007 in my life and What the Lord has taught me throughout the year especially the last quarter of the year.
Work At Last!
After joining NYMC'2k6, I decided to find a job for myself to sustain me and my needs. God was gracious enough to put me in a position only His favour can accomplish. I'm currently a Talent Acquisition Specialist in the Recruitment Department in TeleTech Dumaguete. I just got regularized last December 13, 2007. Although the pay is not that big compared to other Call Centers, I am contented with the salary. God has also allowed me to partner with 6 others who in one way or another has a Christian background. Please pray that my life, though full of failures at times yet has overcome through God's sustaining grace be a testimony of a God whose plan never fails.
Ministry Level
I am currently on the down roll for this one. I didn't have much time last year to do things I expected to do for 2007. it was a heartbreaking experience not to join camps and conferences because I don't have leave credits yet. But still, I find time to mingle and talk with our youth group. Although I didn't have much time to minister frontline, I had the chance to talk and encourage some friends and acquaintances.
I also got involved with National Youth Missions Movement, (and for those NYMC Grads... nasan na kayo?) I remember praying on LCDC'2k5 for the Lord to open up an opportunity to get in touch with NYMC and it happened before the week was over and up to now, I'm helping out NYMM with the blogsite and some other stuff...
In church, I am blessed to say that my prayers years before has been faithfully answered by the Lord. We have a lot of youth who are actively involved in the music team, bible study and youth activities. Just this december 30, 2007, Sonny, whom we are discipling to become a leader was elected as president for the District Youth, of which i was the president last year. We have youth of different gifts and personality but we blend as one when we come to worship the Lord and do service for Him. Amen to that!
Pray for us as we envision this year as a year of favour and fine tuning for our church... may His blessing and grace fall upon us all the more!!!
Family Unexpectancy
As i said earlier, the last quarter of the year was a great one. although i came to the point of almost sliding out of God's path, i was able to be recaptured by the Lord reminding me that He never fails a promise given by Him. My ate, whom i have been praying to come back to the Lord has already been fulfilled. But the road to redemption was not an easy one for her and for her kids and for all of us who love her.
My ate, who was carefree and full of excitement for the Lord got married 5 years ago as an act of rebellion as i quote it from her. It ended up being maltreated by her mother-in-law and husband for almost 4 years. She decided to ran away last November with her 2 kids with just a few clothes on their bag. My mom fetched them at the market place in Pampanga and directly on boarded a bus going back to Manila.
A week after, my ate came back to our province to make a new start. She's with her 2 kids right now and is currently having counselling. She experienced so much trauma that she cant have a good night sleep. before the year ended, she had some improvement and both of her kids gained some weight.
With her being here with us is a bit of a challenge. We have to personally take care of her needs and the 2 kids. I am currently helping with the financial aspect of the 2 kids and her. Viz, Cheeno and I became a daddy before the year ended (hahaha...) and we see it as an opportunity to hone them in the ways of the Lord. Although they sometimes look for their dad, we always hug them and kiss them and say "i love you" to them every time we are with them. They are actually spoiled with toys by my younger brother of which they were deprived of through the years. They never experienced that when they were in pampanga.
Pray for my ate and the 2 kids, let God be their father and husband. Let them feel the hand of God in their lives as He provides, love and take care of them. we could do as much but only God could heal all of them with their experiences in the past. Pray that the God of the past be the Father of their present and the provider for their future. Thanks!
Pray for her husband and mother in law, let God's merciful and just hands be upon them. let this be an opportunity to seek the Lord and come to the knowledge of his saving grace.
Personally, i am disappointed and angry with them for hurting my ate but i have already forgiven them. although it will be a process to completely forget what they did but the Lord be the judge of their misdoings...
Conclusion
Overall, I thank the Lord for His hands was upon me throughout the year 2007. Many times in that particular year that i hurt him so badly that i was even afraid to face him in prayer and in church. I can never say I am perfect but He was perfect for me all the time. In all those unfaithfulness, God was faithful till the year ended.
a good lesson learned for 2007 was that of a minister's word to me in November - " every time you fall down, be like David, always go back to the hands of God because in His hands is mercy and forgiveness..." indeed, amen to that!
All I can say is that He is God of our past,in the present and of our future. His words holds true to my life (and yours!) and I am expectant to see what God has in store for me this year 2008! Thank You for reading!!!
